Women's Ministries

Women of the Word (WoW!) Bible Study

The goal of WoW! can be found directly in Scripture, namely to "let us know; let us press on to know the Lord" (Hosea 6:3) for "the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action" (Daniel 11:32). Thus, a weekly women's bible study offers two Tuesday classes to accommodate varied schedules.  Meeting in the morning at 10:30 AM at St. George’s Church, child care is available.  The same class is offered on Tuesday evenings at Karla Probert’s house at 7:30 PM.

February 7th will see the beginning of a new women's bible study session focusing on "The Story of Anglicanism" -- its history, theology, standards, practices, art and architecture.

You are invited, indeed encouraged, to join with women of all ages and stages to mine the rich veins of Holy Scripture and our shared "story" as Anglicans. This course is specifically designed to allow women to attend as available -- it is never too late to join! Contact Karla Probert for information: 719-434-8120, usaproberts@comcast.net.

St. Theresa’s Guild

A ministry designed to prepare and deliver meals to parishioners in need due to a birth, extended illness or injury, or death in the family.  Most meals consist of a hot dinner or given various family situations, sometimes a frozen meal to be eaten later.   If you enjoy cooking and feel a call to this vital ministry, please contact the Guild through Martha Clift at MarthaClift@msn.com or 719-439-6063.

St. Chrysostom’s Guild

This women’s organization meets the first Wednesday of each month from September-May, 9:30-11:30 am in members’ homes for spiritual enrichment and fellowship.  A light lunch and a variety of stimulating presentations are made by members or outside speakers.  In addition to its educational purpose, St. Chrysostom’s also has a service dimension.  This year the Guild established the Gloria Barnsbee Memorial Library at St. George's Church and will continue to collect books, furnish and manage the library.  Contact Colleen Miller at colleen2511@comcast.net or 719-578-5352 for information about the Guild.

St. George’s Sewing Guild

The members of this group possess everything from professional level skills to the desire to learn something about the art. They research the fine details of acquiring the nicest fabrics and pattern for each article of Altar linens.  They then hand craft each piece down to the nearly invisible stitches required of these holy items for our worship services. These seamstresses are responsible for producing the green priests’ stoles, the pulpit hanging and the burse and veil over the chalice, in addition to hand sewing the communion linens.  Contact Linda Waterman at 266-6215 or e-mail watermansprings@msn.com.
